Music doesn’t get purer and more authentic than in the hands of ISE, a 19-year-old singer songwriter from Belgium with a talent to pour personal stories into heartfelt indie rock songs. With her stripped-down 90s guitar sound and warm and raw voice, she sings about experiences that are relatable for many people. After debut single Goodbye Letter (2024), the release of Remember? this year is only her second official single, and a taster for the debut album that is scheduled for 2026.
ISE rose to the surface in 2023 when, still only 17 at the time, she got unique playing opportunities at festivals like Pukkelpop (BE), Sziget (HU) and Bospop (NL), and claimed prizes at renowned music competitions Sound Track and Imagine Music Experience. All this even before the release of her debut single! Goodbye Letter dropped in early 2024, sealing her first place in Studio Brussel’s influential De Nieuwe Lichting and reaching #1 in the network’s popular alternative chart De Afrekening. What followed was widespread attention and support from various media outlets, from radio (StuBru, Willy, Radio 1, KINK, NPO2, ..) and tv to magazines and online channels, in Belgium, the Netherlands and beyond, including performances on national tv and even before former King Albert II of Belgium.
In just a matter of months ISE gained a strong and impressive live reputation, with a powerful presence and performance, even if most of the time it is just her on guitar, occasionally accompanied by piano. Taking the breath away of tens of thousands of people at festivals all around Europe, ISE stunned audiences at Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop and many more in Belgium, Best Kept Secret (NL), selling out countless venues in Belgium (AB Club twice on the same day!) and The Netherlands (Mezz Breda), all the way to London (Islington Assembly Hall), Paris (La Boule Noir, La Cigal), 9 shows in Japan, Hamburg (FKP Showcase), Switzerland and Austria, plus supporting Hozier (Forest National, BE) and Gavin DeGraw (AFAS ARENA, NL).
Reaching 65+ shows in 2024 all over Europe, 2025 marks the beginning of a new phase in her already successful and yet still budding career. After going to Japan for 8 shows during the Belgian Beer Weekend and at the 2025 Expo in Osaka, the number of shows will be limited to shift all focus to working on the debut album. New single Remember? is again centred around her signature guitar sound and husky voice, while added instrumentation and lush orchestration build up to a powerfully emotional finale that leaves no one unmoved. It’s another personal story, this time looking back at how it feels to grow up in a family of divorced parents. ‘You don’t always get to choose who enters your life and who will be new ‘family’. Sometimes it’s nice, often it’s not. You’re afraid to get attached to it, but subconsciously you do. This is my personal story, but maybe other people will recognize it too, and I hope they can also find strength and value in it.’
