Brennt Vanneste & Janne Vanneste ‘Prends-moi dans tes bras’

Brennt Vanneste — frontman of the iconic sludge metal band STAKE, and now, for the occasion, adding an extra 'n' to his first name — is taking a bold new direction with his solo debut. His first album, the opening chapter of a trilogy, will be released in five weeks (on Friday, June 20), and it reveals Brennt as an impressively versatile talent. It's a mosaic of styles and genres: from post-rock and lo-fi singer-songwriter to neo-psych, jazz, film score and ambient. “A journey through sound and silence,” as Brennt himself puts it.

Take ‘Prends-moi dans tes bras’, for instance — a hauntingly beautiful psychedelic chanson, sung and co-written by his sister Janne (a remarkable talent in her own right). The track evokes both the neo-psych shimmer of King Gizzard or Tame Impala, and the lush seventies grandeur of Aphrodite’s Child and Demis Roussos.
