Aghogho – born Caro Abutoh (23) – is a promising Antwerp-based artist bringing a unique blend of soul, jazz and funk. Aghogho is Caro's Nigerian name, meaning "child of God", and reflects the strong cultural identity that’s woven into her music. As a singer and bass player, she crafts a rich and distinctive sound rooted in warm vocals, deep bass lines, soft trumpet textures and layered harmonies, all carried by irresistible, funky rhythms.

Music has always played a central part in Aghogho's life: she’s been singing from a young age, has played piano for years, but it was during her studies that she truly developed her own artistic voice. She recently completed her master's degree at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, where she refined her sound through experimentation with instruments, polyphony, rhythm and production tools like Ableton.

Aghogho surfaced in early 2025 with her debut EP “17”, enriching her vibrant sound with afrobeats and irresistible grooves. Drawing from her half-Nigerian background, she brings an organic, rhythmic sensibility to her sound that has already drawn comparisons to artists such as Nilüfer Yanya, Lianne La Havas and Zap Mama.

Things have moved quickly since then: in December 2025 she won the influential Sound Track talent competition, and earlier this year she supported her hero Femi Kuti at De Roma in Antwerp and Ifé Ogunjobi, the Grammy-winning trumpeter of Ezra Collective, at AB in Brussels. Aghogho is also artist in residence at Antwerp venue Trix and is currently working on a new EP set to be released later this year via Mayway Records. A first single is expected before the summer.
