Ão new single ‘Sofrimento’

Mini-album ‘Obra’ April '27

Suffering. Pain. Why so much hate in the world, when we're all brothers? “Sofrimento” is Ão's reinterpretation of Waldemar Bastos' Angolan semba classic, and an unmissable fixture of their live set.

Fado roots, saudade soul, it’s a tender lament turned joyful and exuberant, while retaining the melancholic weight. Driven by infectious percussion, incantatory guitars, and dynamic vocals, this new single leads up to their spring ’27 mini-album ‘Obra’ — a follow-up to February’s acclaimed Malandra (“A breathtaking and all-consuming listen” — KEXP) — as the band tours across Europe this fall.

In 2027 they’ll add another chapter to the story with a new run of international shows, to be announced soon.
